Abstract

The school contributions dataset for the U.S. Embassy School Elections Project is a comprehensive and meticulously curated collection of student projects and election predictions spanning three distinct school years: 2012/13, 2016/17 and 2020/21. This dataset encapsulates the creative endeavors of students who have actively participated in the U.S. Embassy School Elections Project, showcasing their innovative ideas and election predictions through various mediums. The dataset comprises more than 300 individual contributions, representing a diverse array of formats, including texts, posters, images, songs, movies, videos, padlets (in both JPEG and PDF formats), powerpoint presentations and other. Each contribution is accompanied by an abstract text, providing a concise yet informative summary that contextualizes the prediction and highlights its key elements. The dataset can be utilized to conduct in-depth analyses, extracting insights on content themes, sentiment analysis and the like, thereby deepening their understanding of students' perspectives and their evolving responses to U.S. Elections and politics over time. This collection of student-generated content facilitates an exploration of the dynamic interplay between teaching and learning English as a foreign language, creativity, intercultural competence and civic engagement, thereby contributing to a broader understanding of student involvement and learning within the context of Content and Language Integrated Learning.
