Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with queer representation in the TEFL classroom. It focuses on queer representation in EFL materials and answers the question how representation of queer identities in EFL materials supports LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the EFL classroom. After discussing why queer inclusion is important and using queer theory as a theoretical framework, the findings are connected to the TEFL curriculum of Lower Saxony. Furthermore, the importance of queer inclusion specifically in the EFL context is explained and different ways of representation are discussed. Moreover, possibilities of implementation of queer inclusion are considered, an adequate queer representation is defined and 10 thematic anchors are developed to use as means of queer inclusion in the EFL classroom.
