Abstract

The dataset includes social network data about restoration actors' relationships, including resource flow, collaboration, communication, and trust. The study focused on the Rutsiro and Ngororero districts in western Rwanda, both mountainous areas. Three villages were selected in each district: Shyembe, Rwamiyaga, and Gisunzu in Rutsiro District, and Kabuga, Kagarama, and Bereshi in Ngororero District. These villages were chosen because their communities are interconnected through restoration landscape projects. Individual interviews and participatory workshops were combined within a mixed-method approach and conducted from 4 to 27 June 2024. Key interviewees were identified through snowball sampling. In Rutsiro, 20 Net-Map interviews were conducted, including five women and 15 men. In Ngororero, 15 interviews were conducted, comprising three women and 12 men. Interviewees ranged from local stakeholders, including community members, government representatives, and companies, to international and local NGOs. After the Net-Map interviews, participatory one-day workshops were conducted in each village to validate the interview data and collaboratively map a common network for each district.
