Abstract

The data set consists of the supplementary data and materials for the article "Citizens' assemblies can lead to more ambitious climate policy, but it's been rare“ investigating the ambition and impact of citizens‘ assemblies on climate policy. The research group analyzed 488 recommendations from five national and one statelevel citizens‘ assembly. For each recommendation, they collected information about the state of corresponding political decisions before and after the assembly. In total, they considered 410 documents, predominantly official response documents to assemblies, policy documents (e.g., laws, decrees, strategies, reports), government websites, press releases, and news articles. In addition, they conducted expert interviews and surveys. They collected data from 76 experts across all six cases, i.e. 56 expert interviews and 20 expert survey responses per case. In total, they reached out, multiple times, to over 450 experts.
