Future Challenges for Global Tourism

The doctoral thesis deals with future challenges that the tourism market has to face on a global level. The problem is treated from different perspectives and with different thematic foci. Thematically, the thesis approaches both global changes in the tourism market and further developments of the research methodology. The methodological repertoire includes a Delphi survey in combination with a focus group, mobile ethnography in conjunction with participant observation and contextual interviews, and a quantitative online survey.

Die Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit den zukünftigen Herausforderungen, denen sich der Tourismusmarkt auf globaler Ebene stellen muss. Die Problematik wird aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und mit unterschiedlichem thematischem Fokus behandelt. Thematisch geht es sowohl um globale Veränderungen im Tourismusmarkt als auch um Weiterentwicklungen der Forschungsmethodik. Das methodische Instrumentarium der Arbeit umfasst eine Delphi-Befragung in Verbindung mit einer Fokusgruppe, mobile Ethnographie in Verbindung mit teilnehmender Beobachtung und kontextuellen Interviews sowie eine quantitative Online-Befragung.
