Abstract

The data set contains the data acquired within the DFG project "Microstructural evolution in dissimilar Al/Ti interfaces generated under non-equilibrium conditions by solid-state processing", which is explained and discussed in the final report of the project. The data set contains a readme file explaining the folder structure and contents. The archive package consists of: the cross sections of the joint including thermocouples, the SEM micrographs of the as-welded and heat-treated joints and the STEM micrographs of the heat-treated interface of an Al1Mg1.5Si / Ti64 joint; the raw data of the process temperatures during the refill Friction Stir Spot Welding processes of the different alloys welded to Ti64 and the temperature cycle during the heat treatment; the measurement reports and figures generated by the EDAX software; the data of the conventional XRD method and the data of the HE-XRD method; the raw data of the nano-indentations; the raw data of the surface roughness line scans and surface macros of the Ti64 sheets; the raw data of the quasi-static tensile tests at room temperature; the macros of the Ti64 fracture surfaces after lap-shear tensile testing; the raw data of the process temperatures during the refill Friction Stir Spot Welding processes of the different alloys welded to Ti64; the raw data of the quasi-static tensile tests at room temperature; the data of the profilometer measurements and the images of the fracture surfaces of both Al and Ti sides; the raw data of the hardness line scans over the Al side of the weld; the raw data of the OES measurements of the base materials after casting; the raw data of the tensile tests of the base material at room temperature and at elevated temperature, used as inputs for the material modelling of the different alloys during the SPH simulation; the recorded raw data of the actual refill FSSW – RPS200 operations, and some insights into operations using the Kawasaki Robot; figures highlighting the issue with the Al being stuck within the shoulder, leading to delamination from the Ti surface and the micrographs taken from the investigations using a graphene foil interlayer; lifecycle information, plots and macro fracture surfaces of the fatigue investigations; the preliminary outputs of the SPH simulation; the nano-XRD measurements conducted at DesyP03; the raw neutron diffraction data acquired at ILL using the SALSA equipment and the raw data acquired at Desy P61 using energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction.
