Abstract

This data set contains the data, the code and supplementary materials that are the basis for the findings of the two papers "Boosting Messenger Credibility and Persuasiveness. Empirical Tests and a Theoretical Framework of Source Attributions" and "Building Support for Carbon Tax Policies: Does the Source of an Endorsement Matter?". The investigators tested hypotheses about the impact of a pro-carbon tax message in a series of three survey experiments in the US, plus one in Germany, between 2021 and 2024. The experiments focused on different message sources - minipublic, government, non-governmental organization (NGO), scientists - and the effects and impacts of source, information, and communication on public support and public opinion in the field of source attribution, persuasiveness, credibility, and endorsement.
