README file of the dataset Eberswalde Carabid Abundances 1999-2022 Authors: Linde, Andreas Weiss, Fabio Describtion of variables: sample_id = unique identifier for each interval (including information of plot_year_interval) sample_id2 = unique identifier for each sample (including information of plot_year_interval_trap) year = year of sampling interval = number indicating if the data was collected in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd interval of each year trap = identifier of the respective trap (one of four) within one plot, trap numbering is not consistent among years and trap numbers are not unique. A unique trap identifier can be produced by combining information of trap, plot and year. plot = identifier of the respective forest plot (rectangular plots of appr. 500m2 with 4 pitfall traps) abundance = sum of carabid individuals (beetles belonging to a species of the Carabidae family) collected by one pitfall trap in the respective interval/year/plot abundance_Nbrevicollis = sum of individuals belonging the species 'Nebria brevicollis' collected by one pitfall trap in the respective interval/year/plot. This species displays extreme fluctuation between years. To exclude 'N.brevicollis' this variable can be subtracted from the ""abundance"" variable." sampling_length = number of days for which the sampling in this respective interval/year/plot lasted sampling_temp = average daily temperature during interval (based on sample_id), derived from publically available meteorological data (DWD station 00164) sampling_rain = average daily sum of precipitation during interval (based on sample_id), derived from publically available meteorological data (DWD station 00164) spring_temp = average daily temperature for the month of march (based on year), derived from publically available meteorological data (DWD station 00164) Additional metadata available at https://pubdata.leuphana.de (handle: 20.500.14123/30 / https://doi.org/10.48548/pubdata-23)
